WickScript indicator
Runs your own WickScript code as an indicator and draws its lines, marks, levels and HUD lines on the chart.
What you see
The WickScript indicator draws whatever its script asks for: lines and histograms from show, dots for events, text marks above or below candles, horizontal levels (active ones solid with a label, finished ones dashed and faded) and lines in the HUD stack. The script's first line decides whether it draws on the price chart (on chart) or in its own panel below it (in pane, with a Height setting), and gives the script its name.
Added from the indicator list (F3), it starts with a sample script: a fast and a slow EMA (Fast 9, Slow 21) and a ▲ mark below the candle where the fast one crosses above the slow one.
Writing and editing
You edit scripts in the Strategy Lab under Scripts: choose a script or a template on the left, change the code and press Apply (Ctrl + Enter, ⌘ + Enter on a Mac) to put the new version on the chart. The editor shows errors, the script's inputs and a preview of its outputs on the chart's candles. The language is described in WickScript.
If a script has errors, the chart lists them in the HUD, marked ⚠. An alert shows a notice when it fires on the latest candle.
Settings and outputs
The settings are the script's own input lines – Fast and Slow below belong to the sample script and change with your code. The show outputs can be used in Trade Setup triggers, filters and exits like those of any other indicator.
Access
The indicator is listed only with WickScript access, which you can unlock by inviting friends – see Account.
Settings
Open the settings with the slider icon next to the indicator (Indicators, F3). Numeric settings can be swept as Step 1 / Step 2 parameters when you run a strategy.
| Setting | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fast | Number | 9 | Input of the sample script: length of the fast EMA. Your own script replaces it with its own inputs. |
| Slow | Number | 21 | Input of the sample script: length of the slow EMA. |
Outputs
The outputs are the show lines of your script: each one becomes a value for Trade Setup triggers, filters and exits. See WickScript indicators.
