Swing Pattern
Marks simple three-candle swing highs and swing lows with small ticks above and below the candles.
What you see
Short vertical ticks: a green tick above a candle marks a swing high, a red tick below a candle marks a swing low. The colors are fixed; Line Color has no effect.
How it works
The indicator looks at every group of three consecutive candles:
- Swing high: the middle candle's high is higher than the highs of both neighbors.
- Swing low: the middle candle's low is lower than the lows of both neighbors.
A swing is confirmed once the third candle exists, so the tick appears one candle after the swing candle. Groups whose candles are not evenly spaced in time – for example across a gap in the data – are skipped. A wide candle can be a swing high and a swing low at the same time.
How to read it
These are the smallest possible swing points. They show every minor turn, which makes them useful for reading short-term structure – a sequence of higher swing lows in an uptrend, lower swing highs in a downtrend – and as a reference for where short-term stops tend to sit. On low timeframes they appear on many candles. For fewer, stronger swings use Swing High/Low, which compares more candles on each side.
Using it in strategies
Swing Pattern is a visual tool: it has no outputs for the Trade Setup or for use indicator in WickScript.
