Go to a date and time
Jump the chart to any date and time with Go to (Alt + G), with minute, hour or day precision depending on the timeframe, and back to the latest candle.
Open Go to
Click Go to in the bottom right corner of the chart, where the time axis meets the price axis, or press Alt + G. The same key closes it again.
The fields start at the time of the candle under the crosshair, or at the latest candle if you are not pointing at one. The header shows the timeframe, for example 15m candles.
Enter the target
- Date and Time are in the time zone of the app, shown next to the fields (for example
UTCorUTC+2). Change it in Settings (F10) → Display, see Time zone. - The date picker does not go beyond today.
Enteror Go jumps,Esccloses the panel. While you type, the chart's own keyboard shortcuts are paused.
How precise the time is depends on the timeframe:
| Timeframe | You enter |
|---|---|
| below 1 hour (1m to 30m) | date and time to the minute |
| 1 hour to below 1 day (1h to 12h, including 90m) | date and full hour; the panel notes Hourly precision on this timeframe. |
| D, W, M | date only |
Quick shifts
The chips move the entered time:
- −1h (not on D, W and M), −1d, −1w, −30d and +1d shift relative to the time in the fields. They never go past the current time.
- Today sets the start of today in your time zone.
What Go does
The line above the buttons tells you what will happen, for example "Centers the 15m candle of 2026-03-12 14:30 UTC". The target snaps to the start of the candle that contains it.
When you press Go, ChartRider loads the candles around the target, rebuilds the chart with that candle in the middle and highlights it briefly.
- A target in the future shows the latest candle instead ("That is in the future – Go shows the latest candle.").
- If there are no candles at that time, the panel says No candles at that time – try another date.
Back to now
- Latest ⏭ in the Go to panel returns to the current candle.
- Go to now in the chart menu (right-click → Chart) does the same from anywhere on the chart. If you jumped into the past, it loads the live candles first.
Switching the timeframe after a jump keeps the same time in the middle of the chart, see Charts.
