Drawing tools
Place risk/reward boxes, measure moves and write text on the chart from the Draw group of the chart menu, and learn where your drawings are saved.
Where the tools are
Right-click the chart and open Draw in the chart menu. Every tool starts at the point you right-clicked. The tools need a mouse, so they are only available on a desktop, and they are off during a replay.
Risk/reward box
R/R long or R/R short places a box with a 2 : 1 reward-to-risk ratio. The entry is the clicked price, the stop sits below it (above for a short) at a distance based on the visible price range, and the target is twice as far on the other side. The box is 24 candles wide.
The green area is the reward, the red area the risk. Labels to the right of the box show:
- Target with its price and the distance from the entry in %.
- Stop with its price and distance in %.
- Long or Short with the entry price and the R:R ratio.
To edit a box, click it first to select it (it gets an outline). Then drag:
- the entry, stop or target line to move that level (dragging the entry also moves the start of the box in time),
- the right edge to change the width,
- inside the box to move all of it.
Stop and target always stay on their side of the entry, at least one tick away. A box that is not selected never moves by accident; dragging it pans the chart as usual.
Right-click a box for Fill in order (copies entry, take profit and stop loss into the paper trading order entry; as with Long here, a quantity already entered there places the order right away, see Orders), Flip side (long becomes short with the same distances, and back) and Delete.
Measure
Measure follows the mouse from the clicked point and shows the price change, the change in %, the number of bars and the duration. Click to keep the result on the chart, click again to clear it. Esc stops measuring. Measurements are not saved.
Text
Text writes at the candle under the cursor. A borderless field opens right there; Enter starts a new line. The toolbar above it sets:
- color (seven swatches or any color),
- size (10 to 400 px) and opacity,
- Regular, Bold or Italic,
- the anchor: Candle, Chart point or Screen.
✓, Ctrl + Enter (⌘ + Enter on a Mac) or a click outside keeps the text. Esc discards your changes. ✕ deletes the text, and so does keeping an empty one. A new text starts with the style of your last one. A text can have up to 1000 characters and 40 lines.
| Anchor | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Candle | Default. Sits above the high or below the low of its candle, depending on whether you right-clicked above or below the middle of the candle. Placed automatically so it doesn't cover candles or other texts, with a thin line to the wick when it has to move away. On other timeframes it attaches to the candle that contains its time; in replay it appears once its candle forms. |
| Chart point | Pinned to an exact time and price and moves with the chart. Never rearranged. |
| Screen | Fixed in the chart window. Stays put while you drag, zoom or replay, useful for titles and captions. |
Double-click a text (or right-click it → Edit text) to edit it. To move it, click it once to select it, then drag. A candle text moves to the candle under the pointer.
Select and delete
- Click a drawing to select it,
Escto deselect. DelorBackspacedeletes the selected drawing.- Right-click a drawing → Delete does the same.

Drawings belong to a market (exchange, category and symbol), so you see them on every timeframe of that market.
- Signed in: saved to your account and available in every browser you sign in with.
- Not signed in: saved in this browser only.
When you sign in, the drawings you made in this browser before move to your account the next time you open that market. You can keep up to 200 drawings per market and 5,000 per account.
