FlowZones
Three shaded bands between pairs of fast and slow EMAs, colored bullish while the fast EMA is above the slow one and bearish otherwise.
What you see
Three filled bands on the price chart. Each band spans the area between a fast and a slow exponential moving average (EMA) of the close:
- Band 1: the fastest pair, drawn on top.
- Band 2: the middle pair.
- Band 3: the slowest pair, drawn underneath.
Each band uses its bullish color while its fast EMA is above its slow EMA and its bearish color otherwise, so the color can change from candle to candle.
How it works
Every line is a standard EMA of the close: EMA = α × close + (1 − α) × previous EMA with α = 2 / (period + 1), started from the simple average of the first period closes. Value Multiplier scales all six periods at once and rounds them to whole candles – 2 doubles every period, 0.5 halves them – which lets you approximate the bands of another timeframe without editing each period.
How to read it
- All three bands bullish and stacked with band 1 on top: a steady uptrend. All bearish with band 1 at the bottom: a steady downtrend.
- Band 1 changing color while the slower bands keep theirs: a pullback or an early sign of a turn.
- Price moving into a band: the band acts as a dynamic support or resistance area.
- Thin bands that keep changing color: a range without direction.
Using it in strategies
The six outputs are the individual EMAs: b1f and b1s are the fast and slow EMA of band 1, b2f / b2s of band 2 and b3f / b3s of band 3. In the Trade Setup compare them with each other or with the close, for example b1f above b1s as a trend filter or the close crossing below b3s as an exit. In WickScript: use indicator "FlowZones" with multiplier 2 as fz, then fz.b1f > fz.b1s.
