> Trade perpetual futures with 10,000 USDT of play money on live prices – how fills, fees, margin, leverage, liquidation and funding are simulated, and what the panels show.

Paper trading is a simulation with play money on live market prices: long and short positions with leverage, a live order book, and fees, slippage and a short order delay like on a real exchange. Play money can't be bought, paid out or transferred, and results don't carry over to real trading.

## Open the trading panel

Click **Trade** in the dock or press `F4`. On a desktop the chart gets a header with price and funding, the order book, the order entry on the right, and positions and orders below. On a phone, order entry, positions and order book open as a sheet over the chart (**Order**, **Positions**, **Book**).

Trading needs a Google sign-in; signed out, the order panel shows **Sign in**. The first time, **Start guided trade** fills in a small market order for you and shows where your position appears (**Intro** in **Account & stats** shows it again).

## Your account

You start with **10,000 USDT** of play money in your **Free account**. Every competition you join gets its own separate account with the competition's starting balance – see [Competitions](https://chartrider.com/docs/trading/competitions/). With more than one account, a selector in the account box switches between them.

The account box shows **Equity**, **Available**, **Margin in use**, **Unrealized PnL** and **Margin ratio** (maintenance margin ÷ cross equity; liquidation at 100 %). Unrealized profits don't increase **Available**; unrealized losses of cross positions reduce it.

Where available, **Reset account** in **Account & stats** starts a new free account with 10,000 USDT once every 24 hours. Open orders are cancelled and positions discarded; the old account stays readable, competition accounts are not affected, and the reset ends your global leaderboard ranking for the running periods.

## Markets

Click the market name in the header to pick a market. All USDT perpetuals with a live feed are tradable, grouped into **Favorites**, sectors and **Other**, each with its maximum leverage. The list also has the **ChartRider Traffic Index**, a play-money index with at most 5x, no funding and a minimum holding time shown in the header. Other markets show **Not tradable**.

The header shows the last price, **24h change**, **24h high**, **24h low**, **24h turnover**, **Mark**, **Index**, **Funding / countdown** and **Paper traders** – the long/short split of open paper positions on ChartRider once enough traders hold one (not a signal). If market data stops for a few seconds, **Market data delayed – trading paused** appears and no orders are accepted.

## How orders are filled

- **Order delay:** every order is executed after a short random delay, against the market as it is at that moment. Take profit, stop loss and liquidation have no extra delay.
- **Market orders** fill against the order book where its depth is available, otherwise at the best bid or ask plus a size-dependent surcharge that grows with the order size relative to the market's turnover and with recent volatility. A market order never fills more than 5 % away from the price when it arrives; the rest is cancelled.
- **Limit orders:** the part that can fill immediately fills as taker. The rest rests in the book and fills as maker at your limit price when a trade prints through it or the opposite side crosses it. A trade exactly at your price only fills you after the volume that was ahead of you. Partial fills are possible.
- **Fees:** maker 0.02 %, taker 0.055 % of the order value (the Traffic Index has its own rates). Every fill shows its role (**Maker** or **Taker**) and fee; **Trade history** also shows the slippage in bps and the delay in ms.

Order types, time in force and TP/SL are described on [Orders](https://chartrider.com/docs/trading/orders/).

## Margin and leverage

- **Cross** (default): all cross positions share your balance. **Isolated**: only this position's margin is at risk. You can switch only while the market has no position and no open orders.
- **Leverage** is set per market in the leverage picker, from 1x up to the market's maximum (at most 50x). The default is 10x. It can't be changed while the market has open orders.
- **One position per market:** an order in the opposite direction reduces or closes the position; if it is larger, the position flips.
- **Margin** of a position is size × entry price ÷ leverage. Open orders reserve margin; conditional orders reserve none until they trigger.

## Liquidation

Profit and loss and liquidation use the **mark price**. An isolated position is liquidated when its margin plus unrealized PnL falls to its maintenance margin; cross positions are liquidated together when the balance (without isolated margins) plus their unrealized PnL falls to their combined maintenance margin.

On liquidation, open orders are cancelled first (isolated: those of that market; cross: all orders of the account), then the position is closed in full at the mark price and a liquidation fee is charged. An isolated position never loses more than its margin, and a cross balance never goes below zero. The order preview shows **Est. liq. price**, and the chart shows a dashed **Liq. price** line.

## Funding

Funding follows the live funding rate and funding time of the market. Positions that are open at the funding time pay or receive size × mark price × rate: with a positive rate longs pay and shorts receive. Payments appear as **Funding** in the **Balance** tab.

## PnL

Unrealized PnL is (mark − entry) × size for a long, the reverse for a short. ROI is unrealized PnL ÷ position margin, so it includes your leverage. Realized PnL is booked when you reduce or close a position, before fees; fees and funding are booked separately. Statistics count each trade's result after fees and funding.

## On the chart

The chart shows your entry with live PnL, the liquidation price, a faint **Break even** line, TP and SL, open orders and triggers, and markers for your fills (▲ buy, ▼ sell, amber for liquidations). **Settings** (`F10`) turn markers, their values and the break-even line on or off. ## Share a position

The share icon next to a position creates a snapshot card with the market, side, leverage, your trader name and the ROI % – no amounts – and a link to copy or share on X, Telegram or WhatsApp.

## Notifications

The bell in the top bar collects fills, liquidations, TP / SL, competitions, ranks, badges and levels; its settings choose **In app** and **Push** per kind.

Paper trading is a simulation with play money. Results do not carry over to real trading, and nothing here is investment advice.
