# Time zone

> ChartRider shows all times in the time zone of your browser unless you choose another one in Settings → Display.

## Default: your browser's time zone

By default, every time in the app is shown in the time zone of the device you use. The clock in the top bar shows the current date, time and zone, for example "Tue 20 Oct 2026 05:04:48 UTC+2". Hover over it to see the full zone name.

## Choose another time zone

Open Settings (`F10`) → Display → **Time zone**. The list starts with:

- **Browser** – the zone of this device, with its current offset.
- **UTC**.
- Common zones: Europe/London, Europe/Berlin, America/New_York, America/Chicago, America/Los_Angeles, Asia/Dubai, Asia/Singapore, Asia/Tokyo and Australia/Sydney.

After those come all other zones your browser knows. The change applies right away; the app redraws all times in the new zone.

## What follows the setting

- The time axis of the chart and the time label of the crosshair.
- The clock in the top bar.
- The replay clock in the replay bar.
- [Go to](https://chartrider.com/docs/charts/go-to/): you enter date and time in this zone, and the field shows its label.
- Dates and times in panels such as the strategy results and the WickScript Lab, and in paper trading.

Zones are shown as offsets from UTC, such as "UTC", "UTC+2" or "UTC−3:30". Daylight saving time is applied for each date, so a summer date and a winter date in the same zone can show different offsets.

## What does not change

Only the display depends on the setting. The data stays the same:

- **Candle boundaries are UTC.** A daily candle opens at 00:00 UTC, a weekly candle on Monday at 00:00 UTC and a monthly candle on the 1st at 00:00 UTC. In UTC+2 a daily candle therefore starts at 02:00 on the time axis.
- **Saved times** – drawings, executions, backtest results – point to the same moment whatever zone you choose.
- **Settings and functions marked UTC stay UTC.** Examples are the time windows of Fibonacci Circles ("Window 1 Start (UTC)") and the `hour` and `minute` values in [WickScript](https://chartrider.com/docs/wickscript/reference/). Session and killzone indicators keep their own fixed definitions.

If you work with daily candles, sessions or UTC-based settings, choosing UTC makes the chart axis match them directly.
